Mosquitoes positive for West Nile in Winnebago County
ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County Health Department announced Monday that two mosquito batches found in the 61073 and 61108 ZIP codes tested positive for the West Nile virus. The virus is transmitted through a mosquito bite, and mosquitoes get it after feeding on infected birds. It can cause serious illness, but most people infected with it show no signs or symptoms of the illness.
