We live in scary times

I have not noticed this reported by media in the country. This is from an Australian newspaper. Ken Dillenburg

As Egypt's government attempts to crackdown on street protests by shutting down internet and mobile phone services, the US is preparing to reintroduce a bill that could be used to shut down the internet.

The legislation, which would grant US President Barack Obama powers to seize control of and even shut down the internet, would soon be reintroduced to a senate committee, Wired.com reported.

It was initially introduced last year but expired with a new Congress.

You probably noticed

If you read the proposed budget in the current newsletter one thing should have stood out. Another year with no dues increase. I believe this will make three years in a row with no increase if the board approves the budget. We have not only been running in the black but we have come in under budget thanks to tight controls by management and the board.

Can this continue forever? Of course not, but we should be proud of our current status. The more government folks saying what a disaster Candlewick Lake Association is should look again before deciding incorporation is the route to go. I am proud to say I live in Candlewick Lake, a homeowners association where we control our own lifestyle. I feel sure most of you feel the same way.

Your Sunday smile

A country preacher decided to skip services one Sunday to spend the day hiking in the wilderness. Rounding a sharp bend in the trail, he collided with a bear and was sent tumbling down a steep grade. He landed on a rock and broke both legs.
With the ferocious bear charging at him from a distance, the preacher prayed, "O Lord, I'm so sorry for skipping services today. Please forgive me and grant me just one wish—make a Christian out of that bear that's coming at me!"
At that very instant, the bear skidded to a halt, fell to his knees, clasped his paws together, and began to pray aloud at the preacher's feet: "Dear God, please bless this food I am about to receive."

Look who are putting themselves out there…

These are the folks who are willing to let themselves be publicly flogged at the candidate forum. You will want to be sure to come to the rec center February 20 (Sunday) at 1 p.m. to watch. As usual the submitted questions will be interesting. Should be fun!

This is not the order in which they will appear on the ballot but at least you can start thinking about whom you would like to have represent you on the board. The next Candlewick Newsletter will also have a piece featuring answers to questions that were presented to the candidates.

Six hopefuls and three open seats. Some property owners want candidates with differing views regarding the future of Candlewick Lake. They certainly had their wish fulfilled. Your future is in your hands, as it should be.

These are the candidates……..
