Spring Training is underway

Since spring training is underway my thoughts turn to baseball. And baseball brings to mind Yogi Berra, Italian American sporting icon, he was named American League MVP three times, voted an All Star 15 times, and was part of 10 World Series winners for the Yankees.

As accomplished as his baseball career was, Yogi is best remembered for his sometimes unintentionally funny quotes about baseball and life. Here are a few:

People used to say the Yankees won a lot because we led the league in Italians.

Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets.

Slump? I ain't in no slump... I just ain't hitting.

I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?

The other teams could make trouble for us if they win.

Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical.

He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious.

You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you.

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there.

And the most famous: “It ain’t over till its over“.
