WHY DIDN’T I?

Don’t allow those words to enter your thought process. Don’t wait any longer. The time is rapidly running out for you to submit your resume to the manager or board president indicating an interest in the newly opening board seat. There are many qualified candidates out there that truly want the best for our community. Please consider throwing your hat into the ring.

Do be advised of the following. I knew the position would be time consuming but it is even more so than I expected. There are many meetings, email contacts, and calls from residents. There is a lot of preparation time necessary for committee, commission, and board meetings. You can’t walk into these meetings blindly. You will disappoint and irritate some very good people with decisions you are forced to make by voting the way you feel is best for all. You will have no power to act as an individual in association matters, only as a board, although there will be some who think you can act individually for the association. There will be at least some public speaking. It is not for the timid. There is no pay unless you wish to count the good feeling of knowing you are doing your best for Candlewick.

With all that being said, another point should be considered. Should you be appointed to the board it will be only a nine month appointment and you will know in nine months if this is for you or not. If you enjoy the position you may then run in the next board election knowing what issues you will face. Please consider all factors then if it fits you send in the resume.
