There was a lot of dissension when the announcement was made that the races would be held here again this year. This weekend to me will be the acid test to see what kind of turnout there is for the event. If it is heavily attended it will probably continue. If not obviously it should not continue and the lake should be available for our residents and guests.
There were several good objections to having the races including the noise plus closing the lake completely for some residents and part of the lake to all on a summer weekend. There were also objections due to the speed on the lake when residents are held to a slower speed limit. This year the no-wake is being lifted early for skiers and boaters but how about the morning fishermen? They are losing their normal morning quiet time. The argument is this is our lake to use and many only have the weekends available. I currently am leaning to the “no” side of the issue for the future but again, if there is a large turnout I may re-think my position.
