This Sunday will be the annual kid’s fishing contest. Sign-in and the start of the contest will be at 8:30 a.m. at the boat launch by the rec center. There will be three age groups competing for prizes. Ages three through six, seven through nine, and ten through thirteen are the brackets. This will be a two hour event with prizes awarded and refreshments available at 10:30. The kids as well as the spectators have a great time enjoying the excitement so be sure to bring your kids to join in.
I remember when I was in a kid being in one fishing tournament. I didn’t win a prize but I must have been under ten years old and I still remember it, which shows what a big deal it is to a youngster. This could be the event that gets kids interested in a sport that is life-long and applicable to both sexes. Just one more advantage to living in Candlewick Lake.
