Today I spoke with the Boone County health department regarding the dead birds found at CWL. You're going to love this. They say the bird can not be dead more than 24 hours so we should watch for sick birds and wait for them to die. It gets better. I also was told they have to have died on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday because the lab they send them to that does the testing for West Nile is closed the rest of the week.
Next I asked for mosquito traps to check mosquitoes to see if they are carriers. Nope, they could not get a grant and they can't afford it.
I guess all we can do is be sure to use plenty of mosquito repellant and hope there is not a problem. Odds are it is nothing anyway but it is good to be careful always. As Paul Harvey says...."Now you know the rest of the story."
