I just read today in the Sun-Times the Chicago fireworks show has been cancelled this year. The only one on the 4th will be the fifteen minute Navy Pier show at 9 p.m. Kind of sad a city of that size can no longer afford the display especially for the kids to enjoy.
That will not be the case here in Candlewick. Donations are currently being accepted at the office or rec center to make ours even better than they would be with only our normal $5,000.00 outlay. The donations will be added to the budgeted amount for an even greater show. Last year many individuals and groups donated a total of almost $3,700.00 and I would expect this year will be the same or more. Our fireworks show is a major attraction and a way for us to show off our community and all it has to offer those considering relocation. July 2nd is the date to look skyward and enjoy.
