The lake management
commission plans to be active in the coming months in an effort to contain nutrients
that enter our lake from the runoff area that includes farm fields. Last year
was a tough one for the lake with some extremely hot temperatures and heavy
algae. The commission plans to install circulation devices in the inlet known
as “the dip”, which is the smaller of the two inlets in the west end of the
lake. Plantings are also being planned to absorb some of the nutrients.
Although the budget is
not yet approved for the expenditures, the cost is in the current budget and
the board is expected to approve. We all know the lake is the central asset of
our community. We are after all known as “Candlewick Lake.”
