Should we all be wearing seat belts? Absolutely. Should we have Boone County Deputies standing by the in and out lanes at our main gate looking into the cars as they stop at the signs then ticketing them if they are not wearing the belts? Very questionable in my mind.
Let’s be clear, I am all for law enforcement but this appears to be simply a way of raising funds for the cash strapped Sheriff’s department at the expense of our Candlewick residents and guests. If they can ticket even ten per hour it is around six hundred dollars of additional funds each hour. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the same number of police manning speed guns inside our community, ticketing those who are breaking speed laws and endangering our kids?
For any of the readers thinking I have been ticketed, that is not the case. I simply think the practice looks a little self serving and should be reconsidered.
