Saturday thoughts………not sure

I have watched some of the 9-11 stories and tributes going on this weekend, even one reporting the events of 9-10-2001, which seemed a little silly. A thought keeps going through my mind as I realize all the hours of programming that will be devoted to the ten year anniversary of that terrible event. Is this really something our country should be doing or are we in a way giving encouragement to those who did this harm to our country?

Yes, it is appropriate to honor those who lost their lives on that day but should we be concentrating on that or on the way we have rebounded and stopped all attempts to repeat that act? This attack is not like Pearl Harbor for example. That was a true war between nations that culminated in our eventual victory over the axis. The attack we are now giving so much coverage was by a group that is spread all over the world and constantly is looking for targets of opportunity to again strike in the hope of bringing us to our knees with the loss of innocent life. They thrive on recognition and this weekend we are telling them how much we are still stinging from their attack ten years ago. Are we feeding their egos and possibly encouraging them and those who may be influenced by their propaganda? I do not know but to me it is a concern.

These are my thoughts only and do not necessarily reflect the feelings of the Pride Group as a whole. Agree or disagree, please, if you feel strongly on this issue send your thoughts to the Pride email address. I will read them all with interest.
