Those wishing to turn Candlewick into a city have been since the beginning trying to portray us as a poorly run crime ridden community. I for one am more saddened by this than angry. This portrayal does nothing but harm our reputation and standing in our region.
Consider the effect this undeserved reputation could have on our property values. I do not recall ever hearing a community being demeaned so consistently by a small group of unhappy residents trying to promote their agenda. Are these the people you want to have attempting to run a new city government? You can bet if their incorporation proposal came to be they would expect to have a major voice in the establishment of the first council and mayor. Would you want those same people who seem to hate our community running it as a city?
These are the same people who rather than trying to correct what they perceive to be problems by working with others want to throw the baby out with the bathwater and hope somehow the city will succeed without assets until the new tax levy is established or they can somehow attach the assets of the association that are currently owned by the property owners. Don't forget another area twenty or so miles away was incorporated about three years ago. It lasted two years and then by vote they were returned to being unincorporated. Those who wanted the incorporation kept asking to be given more time but the residents had seen enough. Much to their credit they could see the writing on the wall. Enough was enough.
