As I type this the Dow is down 525 points after a very bad last week. Obviously the downgrade of U.S. credit has hurt the market along with the problems in Europe especially in Greece and Italy. We are now really a world economy. Why should you care? If you have an IRA or 401K your next statement will take a big hit. Interest rates may well rise for your purchases. This is really an ugly situation. The only bright spot is the price of a barrel of oil is tumbling so hopefully gas prices will drop, which is good for all.
There is an old saying among stock traders. "Buying into falling prices is like trying to catch a falling knife." Lots of band aids and gauze are in use today.
