Controversial motor horsepower decision tabled

One of the items on the board agenda was to allow any size boat motor to be used on our lake with the provision any boat with a motor over the current horsepower limit could only operate at no-wake status, running at idle. Currently boats with oversize motors are allowed on the lake but they can only be propelled by trolling motors, not using the larger motors. Should the proposal be adopted it will be on a one year trial basis and carry a strict penalty of a one year suspension from the lake as well as a fine for those convicted of violating the terms of the resolution.

The board was absent one member and after a lot of discussion of pros and cons it was determined since the topic is so controversial it would be best to table the item until a full board is present. The actual vote on the issue should take place at the September board meeting. There is an obvious split on the board regarding the issue so it is impossible to predict the outcome.
