Today, Thursday, the roads commission met with Rabine Paving for a thorough explanation of the recommendations for repair and partial replacement of our roads. They had obviously done their homework, going over every area in our development with recommendations. There are some areas of necessary redirection of water runoff as well as a fair amount of shoulder work to be accomplished.
Their analysis indicates our road base in general is fine but there are a few areas that may need work. At this point it appears the $3,000 the board authorized for core samples will not be needed but that is tentative. Good news.
After about an hour of give and take with Rabine the decision was made to have them come back with solid numbers from which the commission and board may make a decision. The proposal is expected in about a week. We are doing our best to stay within the constraints of the current reserves assessments and still end up with good roads.
The plan remains to get the roads back into shape then institute an ongoing maintenance program to avoid major expenditures in the future. Things are moving along well at this point.
As I have stated prior, Candlewick is very fortunate to have commission members who are very knowledgeable in the area of road work. Their input is very valuable as this project progresses. We will keep you advised.
