Time to stand up and be counted!
Almost a year ago after hearing the questionable information being supplied by those wanting to turn our gated community into a city I started my crusade to inform anyone who would listen of the pitfalls and dangers both financial and lifestyle effecting that were not being stated by the proponents. The editorial policy does not allow enough space to restate the problems we would face with incorporation but by now you have read many in my prior editorials.
Although those who feel more government is the answer to everything have tried, their attempt to incorporate Candlewick was ended by court action in September. Our board of directors has decided they wish to have a vote of the property owners to finally put this issue to rest. Before long you will be receiving by mail a ballot asking for your yes or NO answer when you return your ballot.
Early this year I wrote an editorial asking anyone agreeing with my stand against incorporation to please send an email to me simply stating “I’m here.” The resulting emails, calls, and in person contacts were outstanding. Many of you asked how you could help. I asked for no help but said the day may come. That day has arrived. I now ask each of you to not only bury the board in NO! votes but also ask your friends and neighbors to do the same.
You can expect lots of promises and community bashing in the near future from those wishing to incorporate in a last ditch effort to get votes. Don’t be fooled. The property owners were not important to them until they lost in court. Just smile and vote as you know in your heart is right. A resounding NO!
Remember door to door solicitation is not allowed in Candlewick Lake so if someone comes to your door regarding this issue please report it to public safety or the office at 815-765-2827. The Pride Group will not be disturbing you at your door.
