5R Processors, Ltd will host a free electronics recycling drive on Saturday, July 16, in the southwest parking lot facing Menards. The event will take place from 10am - 2pm and encourages recycling of old computers, monitors, printers, tv's, cell phones, VHS players and other electronic devices. 5R Processors, Ltd cannot accept materials containing bio-hazards, hazardous waste, Freon, or liquids of any type, smoke detectors, or radioactive materials.
During the event there will be a special line where customers can bring in old computers and have them DOD wiped at the event. DOD (Department of Defense) wiping is a method of erasing the information on a hard drive per the government's standards and involves passing the hard drive 3 times. The DOD wiping cost is $10 per hard drive. 5R Processors, Ltd. will provide a certificate of destruction to prove the drive was erased before it was sent to be recycled, as well as a detailed report showing what was DOD wiped & recycled.
