The 30th anniversary issue of Discovery Magazine had an interesting article regarding laughter. It seems researchers at Loma Linda University in California have found a laughing spell has about the same effect as a moderate workout when it comes to appetite increase. The appetite hormone ghrelin increase is approximately the same with both activities.
What does this mean to us? It would explain why I have been having more of a weight problem since I retired for one thing. Another possibility is if we wait a while the more government folks will get so weak from lack of laughter induced appetite they will no longer be able to attend meetings.
Tongue in cheek? Yeah, I guess.
